I saw this article today and wanted to comment. http://www.theithacajournal.com/article/20120731/SPORTS/307310025/-Rosey-Night-benefit-event-set-Thursday-Cass-Park?odyssey=nav%7Chead
The article is about a fundraiser for longtime Ithaca player Jeff Rosenberg, who is undergoing treatment for colon cancer. This article is a good example of how you can raise money using iron on patches. Due to the low cost of patches it’s very easy for someone to donate $5 for such a great product. Everyone loves the look of patches and what a great way to remember the cause.
A lot of organizations decide to buy t-shirts and have them screen printed. I can understand the desire to give away a nice gift at an event, but patches offer a higher perceived value when added to a nice shirt, hat, or bag. In fact, you can save a ton of money if you are using patches with blank hats, shirts, or bags. The cost of embellishing a shirts is much higher than the cost of a patch, yet the patches give you a VERY nice embellishment option. I would suggest using iron on patches and actually embellish the product at the event. People love to chose between a hat, at shirt, or a bag. You can get up to a 30% discount on blank product from a local promotional distributor, thus the cost savings by NOT having that item embellished with embroidery or screen printing, you can buy the patches essentially for free.
Plus the “SHOW” aspect of putting the patches on the item right in front of them goes a long way. It only takes 15 seconds to do the final application and the setup is very simple, not taking up any more space than a small table. Most heat transfer machines use a regular 110 outlet, so it’s very easy to setup. I can promise you people will donate much more easily using this method than just passing out t-shirts.
Everyone has gotten a screen printed t-shirt. Make a difference by offering a nice iron on patch for your donors.
